Hi All New to the site. I have posted on MRSA human site before! I have MRSA in my nose and throat after having contracting this through surgery. Can this be passed onto pets? I have 2 cats that I love dearly and would like to make sure I cannot infect them. Any tips or advice would be great. W Kelly |

My 11 yr old westie who has had Addison's disease for 7 years was just diagnosed with MRSA. She had a torn cruciate and rather than perform surgery we did alternative therapy. Hydrotherapy, accupuncture and laser treatment. She has had a wonderful recovery with her knee, but ended up with a terrible skin infection in November. My vet did scrapings and put her on antibiotics and shampoos for bacteria and yeast. After several rounds of antibiotics with no longterm results, she advised a dermatologist. The dermatologist did scrapings, cytology etc...ran tests to see what she was allergic to etc. She had many allergies to the outside grasses etc...but the last culture showed MRSA. She is now on her second round of the only antibiotic to treat MRSA as well as a topical ointment. We will be going back for a recheck end of month. My questions are although not proven, I believe it came from the hydrotherapy seesions...the timeline totally fits. I live in Chicago the winters are cold and usu... read more |

Hello Can someone help with this very unusual situation with our Chesapeake Retriever... About a 1 1/2 weeks ago, I began to notice our 10 year old Chesapeake was having some problems sitting down and getting up with her back legs. I also noticed albeit very subtle, she was not quite walking right outdoors. Her back legs seemed somewhat week. Then she began to become disinterested in eating which is not like her at all. She preferred to lay down to eat her food. I finally took her in to the vet who diagnosed her with arthritis and put her on Deramaxx, Tramadal and Dasuquin. Within four days, she began to have the most horrible, bloody boils all over her back. We took her into an emergency center which they put her on an antibiotic and took a culture of the boils. Witin two more days, we had to take her to a specialty clinic where they saw elevations in her liver and kidney. She in now back home, levels are normal but we are now waiting to see if her kidneys wil... read more |

I have heard over the past few days how the ambulance service has been tested to the limit with 999 calls,as people would rather call them than call the nhs 24. The question I have is,what would you consider calling a vet out of hours for,and what would you consider an emergency situation that could not wait till the next day? Also what have you called the vet out of hours for? out of hours i mean anything from probably 8pm till 8am the following day. Do you think Vets should be there to answer questions in the middle of the night, that are not an emergency? eg my dog has a lump!,my bitch has a litter of pups and what should I feed her? what should I feed a baby rabbit etc. |

E-Collar Advanced Training - The Lost/Out Of Sight Dog Recovery Exercise Two videos 1 Introduction Narrative 2. Lost/Out Of Sight Recovery Of Dog. As the digital technological development of e-collars advances along with all other digital advances a 100,000 years of a major global problem has been solved, a lost/out of sight dog recovery training exercise, at this point in time only some of the Tri Tronics transmitters are capable of this, the beeper used has an audio range to humans of 1/4 mile, with a GPS system the range can be extended to a max of 2 miles. There are two training methods possible but one essential must be trained no matter which of the two methods are chosen. The dog must be trained to go down to a stim tap, without any other signal from the handler, for those who do not know e-collars a tap is the equivalent of a finger prod. Method 1 is to train the dog to down to the TT beeper - Method 2, which I use, is to train the dog to recall to the beeper... read more |

Can anyone shed any light on this. A friend of mine who rescues in another area has taken in some kittens with ringworm. Vet has pxd Grisovin, these kittens are 325 gms and they have been pxd 1/8 of a tablet. I understood kittens should not be given this and it is banned in the USA as can cause liver problems. When I had kittens with ringworm laast year I was told to use Canestan cream and this did the trick in a few weeks without anything oral at all. What do you think? |

DEFRA have published their report on wild animals in circuses: After years of lies and propaganda from anti circus kill joys , DEFRA published their scientific report on animal circuses , contradicting the false allegations oftern made by CAPS ,ANIMAL DEFENDERS , RSPCA , and VEGANS R US. They SCIENTIFICLY concluded : - no evidence of stress when travelling - training was done to a high standard. - Cats passing up and down were NOT stereotypical behaviour - Animals such as tigers and elephants can benifit from training - Circuses are not by there nature cruel On balance there was no scientific evidence to sugest circus animals suffered any more than zoo , safari park animals or any other animal keeping systems. This was a major disapointment to the anti circus kill joys such as Mrs ADI who the circus industry has accussed of being a bad loser , who is still fighting a lossing battle. After years of lies and outrageous claims this woman can now read the Scientific p... read more |

when my girl was on prednisolone long term (now finished)i was given one lot with different markings on the tablets. I assumed the practice had changed suppliers. However, when the next lot were the same as previously i asked about it. Of course i was assured they were preds but how do i know. The ones i'm talking about were small white, convex sides, marked ACL, with 5 below the score line. Plain on other side. Has onyone any ideas? I've spent ages trying to identify them on the net. |

Hello, I have just been reading this forum about a dog called Jazz who has a form of mrsa due to an allergy and this story is very close to home for me..... My mum's dog, Chad had been diagnosed as having a form of mrsa in his ears brought on by an allergic reaction to something around the beginning of this year. The infection has perforated his ear drums, they sometimes smell and he shakes his head a lot. He has also lost some fur around his body. He has been on tablets from our local Vets4Pets and while he is taking them his ear drum starts to heal and his ears get a little better but as soon as the medication ends it all flares up again. and the whole process starts again. My mum keeps going to the vets for more tablets but they seem at a loss at what to do next. The only suggestion is keep spending £80 a week on these tablets or have the dog put to sleep. I find this very concerning that no other tablets have been tried and no other forms of treatment hav... read more |

A British medical reporter has written a new book called "What Vets Don't Tell You" which says that if a pet reaches the age of 10 it will have had at least 60 live vaccine viruses given to it by the Vet and goes into how the Vets are making money out of illness by over vaccinating and telling clients to feed only pet food the Vet sells. |

I've been battling MRSA since October 2005. Can't seem to get rid of it. Anyways I bought my hamster in February of 2007. He was just a little guy. He had a beautiful black fur coat. By Sept.2007 I noticed the fur on my hamsters underside and chest was gone. His skin had red blotches on it and his skin looked wrinkled. He just didn't look right. I thought maybe the fruit flys were causing this. As 2007 was coming to a closing my hamsters black fur started thinning with bald spots. His fur took on a greyish color look. My hamster was always scratching. My hamster started getting worse with pus filling up in his ears. I took my hamster to the vet. She gave him some kind of shot and did a skin scraping. She couldn't find any mites. The vet showed me this big abcess that looked like a boil on my hamsters tummy that I wasn't aware he had. I started my hamster on this cheese flavored medicine that the vet prescribed. My hamster started getting fur back on his body and he was eating better... read more |
