My 10 year old GSD had surgery on a lump on back leg in or around oct 2007 - we could not get him to leave it alone and the wound became bigger and would not heal and it was found he had MRSA. long story short but leg amputated Jan 2008 but he is now on his 5th (i think!) bout of MRSA. this evil thing even opened up a four year old scar. my boy, now 10, keeps bouncing back - we seem to have about 6-8 weeks between bouts of infection. I have been tested twice for it and both were positive in my nose - my vets surgery checked out fine.my poor old boy does not appear to suffer badly - indignity of the enormous collar affects him (and my legs) but as long as he is otherwise well, we will continue to treat. I am at a loss (as is our vet) to know why he should continue to get it and seemingly clears up and then attacks again - can anyone shed any light on this for us.
