Hi all I have posted on here before but thought I'd start a new thread since I now have the frame on. I've had my TFS on for five weeks now to fuse my ankle and straighten and lengthen my tib n fib. After just 3 weeks my leg was straight and I am now in the process of lenghtening it, since strarting this the pain has become more intense and night times are worse. I get muscle cramps and it's so painful it wakes me up, sleep is very little at mo but seeing surgeon on 30 September so will be asking him about this then Is anyone else suffering more pain at night? I agree with others who say you have to be strong willed as it can get you down at times and wish you didn't have it on. Keep the faith and hang on in there. Regards. Karl 742

Hi Karl you should eat loads of bananas as they stop cramp and keep it elevated at night by puttin a brick under each leg at the bottom of your bed and this should help Simon 749

Thanks for All your advice guys, since posting the post things have got so much better. I visited my surgeon last week and he informed me I no longer need to adjust the length or straightness as it's all where it should be now so adjusters came off and normal bolts replaced them. Since I stopped moving it all the pain is almost gone. It's amazing I can tell you and I get sleep now :-) hope this gives you hope that there is an end in sight even though my frame is going to be on for another 7 months. 755

Glad you are feeling better Karl, I know you are no longer suffering as much (thankfully) but in case anyone is looking at this for advice - change the time you are adjusting the frame as pain can be much more bearable during the day xx 820

good to hear your feeling better! I've had two frames each for about six months and I had barely any sleep during the first few months! I started to sleep with a pillow underneath it though or if I slept on my side one between my legs. It makes it catch less on things and means you get woken up less when you do get some sleep! 831

I have now had my frame on for two weeks, the pain is unbearable unless takng good drugs. I am having my leg lengthened and the ankle realigned as well as having the bow of my tibia corrected, I dont get much sleep and find the cramps very hard to deal with, I do hope this gets easier, doesnt seem too pleasant at the moment. I certainly understand now what most of you have written and do hope you all come right asap :) 881
