Hello, I see that most Topics here are from people due to have an Ilizarov soon and want to know more. But Ive had my Ilizarov off ten years, I had it originally below the knee, then it moved up near my hit ARRR, everything went wrong, and I contracked Msra ?? ive been told, had no idea at the time, My bone bent to i had to have a plate on the femre after, then spent a life time in a hip spiker, Horible. Now, over the last ten years ive slowly watched the leg grow 'shorter' and im back to my original difference.4 inches i think, ARR! Basicly all i want to know is any one out there receiving DLA, the thing is, I dont have any help from anyone, no parents or friends that would have any idea, Its only as im now 21 im finding out things?? im sure i would be entailed to some as If you saw me you would know what i mean, anyway anyway, Could anyone please let me know their DLA stories etc. I have been refused, so i contacted my doctor at great ormond street a... read more |

Hi there all I had my frame from July 2004 Dec 2005. I'm currently a health psychology masters student and I'm planning a research project investigating the impact a frame has on a person's life. I was just wondering whether anyone would be willing to help..? It would just involve answering a few questionnaires and a possible, optional follow-up interview. This can be done on-line, via post or over the phone. I can provide more details soon, but won't be starting the project 'til the start of May. Please let me know if you're interested - doesn't matter if you've had the frame removed or you're still wearing it :) I'll check back here but you can also e-mail me; lwxskd@nottingham.ac.uk. Thank you! Sandi :) |

I had my frame removed last week (and was kindly given the option to take it home with me - no thanks). It was fitted after I fractured my ankle quite badly. It was only after the frame was removed that I realised how swollen my ankle was, its looks like something that should be at one corner of an elephant. I'm not too worried as its only to be expected but does anybody out there have any experience as to how quickly I can expect the swelling to go down. I walk around for a lot of the time without my arm crutch so as you would expect the swelling increases during the day and by the end of the day the ankle is uncomfortable |

Hello everyone, My son is 15 and autistic and went through this operation 2 weeks ago on Wed. He has Blounts Disease in his left leg. He is still in bed alot as he cannot put obvioulsy any pressure down on his foot yet. We started on Friday to stretch his leg which he says doesnt hurt it just tingles. We go to Sick Kids every Friday to make sure all is well. We went the 1st time last Friday. We were some nervous about transporting him but we did it !! Got him from bed (using a walker) to his wheelchair and down the ramps we were supplied with. He had only came home that Tues then we had to get him back .. My husband and I were so scared about this, but my boy did it .. We were so proud of him .. Its going to be a long road to recovery and Im so glad to have found this site to share my story and read about others .. Very helpful ... Good recovery to you all God Bless |

hi i had my ilizarov frame on for 18 months yes of course it hurts the first month is the worst but the pain can be controlled with morphine but as time goes on the pain will get less and you will be very surprised how much you can put up with in time .. ive had two long spells in fixation none of which worked i can honestly say ilizarov fixation failed in my case and finally 8 weeks ago my tibia was nailed .. i can tell you ive come on leaps and bounds i can finally walk un aided .i only wish they had nailed my tib 4 years ago .. i still have knee pain but its nothing to worry about i wish you luck and im not going to beat around the bush im going to be brutally honest it will hurt you for a short time then it will calm down and it will just uncomfortable and yes keep the pin sites clean and always clean your hands with sanitizer alcohol type it really helps in 18 months i didn't get one pin site infection and clean the pins and wires with sterile saline use sterile dressings typ... read more |

I am so very dissapointed not to receive a response to my genuine question re wearing TSF and clothing. What is the point of having a forum like this if I cannot het some idea and no response is received for a genuine question like this. C'mon ladies/girls, aren't you prepared to help another one like you? If you don't respond within next few days or so, don't worry responding at all. Because I am having my surgery/TSF soon. But, unlike you ladies, I will write my experience and NOT hesitate to share my EXPERIENCE like you. here's my originbal question. A real question, please help. Having a surgery and TSF from next week for six months. How do I wear panty? |

My husband just got his Taylor Spatial Frame put on 2 days ago, and we're interested in buying a cover for it for going out in the winter. Does anyone know of a place to buy a cover for it? We have snap away pants that he can wear, but they still don't cover the frame entirely and his foot is still uncovered. His is on his foot and lower leg, so he can't wear shoes or socks. Any tips would be appreciated! |
