Hi,
My dad got his 2nd DVT in his left leg in Oct (2nd one in 2 years) and his INR is still all over the place although he has reached the theraputic rnage. His doctor say's that the discoloration and swelling on his leg will never truelly go away, but recently he started to complain of a constant itch on his leg and when he went the docs they said that it was vascular eczema caused by the blood clot, he was given steriod cream and a cooling cream but his leg has began to smell like damp straw from a rabbit hutch!! Has anybody else had any similar experiences? Were all really worried as we have not heard of this before.
Thank you
Becy

Nattokinase Therapy Length

I figured I would start a new thread - I've ask this question in some of the other forums but I think I may get lost with receiving a response! I was a little hyper asking questions last night.

Anyhow - I've been on NK for 11wks now and the last leg scan I had did not show any improvement to the clot, which I was a little surprised. I didn't expect the NK to have taken it away completely certainly, but I thought maybe there would be something new.

The only new thing is I'm bordering on high blood pressure...so I have to lose 10/20lbs before August to see if that helps. I was hoping the NK would address that also, but it only keeps getting higher.

Any thoughts? I Googled trying to find NK therapy and how long before I should see results possibly with this clot, post 10mths now and couldn't find anything.

Sharon do you have any ideas?

Is anyone taking Nattokinase or know of any side effects of taking it. I just want to hear straight from a person whose taking Nattokinase what it's like. I found this site
http://www.thehealthierlife.co.uk/article/3574/deepveinthrombosis.html

about it and I can't seem to find anything bad about it. I just want to know anyone whose currently taking it, what you think about it and what kind of side effects you have had from it?

Does anyone know if wearing stockings can cause high blood pressure? I know I read a thread in here somewhere at some point and a guy mentioned it can happen, but I can't find it again to read it or ask for a follow up.

I found some info on the web talking about it also, but just wondered if anyone here knows anything.

thanks!

Warafin Negative Impacts on Running?

Good Day folks,

Let me tell you my story and see if there is any good sound advice out there.

I am a late 37 year old white male. I am in excellent physical condition now. I workout constantly. I have set a goal being able to run a 2 mile course in 18 minutes. I can maintain the pace of a 9 minute mile for the first mile, but the second mile just gasses me so I usual finish at 20:30. I have to wonder, since I am on 8mg of Warafin a day, and the Dr. seems to think that my blood should be 4 times as thin as most people, I wonder, if my fatigue in the second mile can be attributed to the blood thinner?

Thoughts....

Anyway, do you all wear the compression stockings? My doctor hasn't mentioned it yet, but I am wondering if he forgot or something. This is all very new to me, as i was just diagnosed about 3 weeks ago. I do have swelling in my leg, ad its worse after working all day.(I'm a construction worker) I'm on 5-7.5 mg of warfarin. nice to meet you all. I'm 37 and a non smoker. Thanks.

Hi there, my husband has been on Warfarin for just over 6 months and is on 10mg - INR now at 2.8.

Do you come off it cold turkey or do you gradually come off it? The doctor also told him to stop wearing his stocking.

I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has come off the Warfarin and what to expect! Kind Regards, Donna Robertson

hi, 3 weeks ago returned from a holiday to spain complaining of severe pain in calf. not really a doctors man but because of the severity of the pain i went to the local a&e only because it was round the corner and was diagnosed with an extensive dvt after all the d dimer and scans. unbeleivable i am only 34,work in the building trade fit, healthy how can it happen to me . the consultant blames it on drinking in the sun on holiday as the flight was only 2 and a half hours long . sorry if i seem depressing but warferin for 6 months (7.5 mg) just seems ages away, how do i know if it has cleared,if there are any more etc? they wont scan again . i have read a lot of stories in this forum and i know there are a lot worse of than me, thanks for reading .

duration of taking coumadin

I have a DVT from my pelvis to my ankle. My Vascular doctor whom I was given went I entered hospital A on Valentines Day said from the get go he likes to keep his patients on coumadin for 6 months to a year. I had a doppler at hospital A in April. I have been going to hospital B to thier coumadin clinic every 2 weeks. I went today and they say I am done as it has been 6 months, They told me to stop taking the coumadin and set up a doppler Sept 8th for a baseline. Who do I listen to? Shouldn't I have the doppler at the same hospital to compare the 2? The doctor at hospital b says it is not necessary. They just need a baseline for here on in, incase I develope another clot down the road. How long do most doctors recommend coumadin?

Mesenteric Thromus - Partially Canalized

Hi

I've found this forum very helpful over the past few months and have been encouraged by simply knowing there are plenty of other people dealing with similar issues, but I have never posted, until now. I am hoping just to hear some people's experiences, that mirror my own and put together a fuller picture of what the future might hold.

I am a previously healthy, 27 year old male. Back in Dec 2007 I was diagnosed with a perforated appendix which was swiftly removed. I was informed that had I gone much longer without treatment I would have had a 'dead bowel' and that the CT scan had revealed a thrombus in my Superior Mesenteric Vein. I started Warfarin in January and had been taking it until last month when I switched back to Fragmin in order to have a number of blood tests and another CT scan, the results of which would have been compromised/incorrect if I was still on Warfarin. Throughout this 7 month period I've suffered with horribly acute anxiety, panic attacks and depr... read more

I noticed that my left ankle and foot looked swollen 3 weeks ago and the next day experienced pain in my calf and numbness in my toes.

I visited my G.P. who referred me to A&E where they gave me a Clexane injection in my stomache and told me to come back the next day for a scan.

Having paid £13 for a round trip to the hospital I was then told that I was only there to make an appointment for a scan (I'm still miffed) they gave me another Clexane jab and I went back the next day for my actual scan which showed that I have a clot below my knee.

I have not been immobile, had surgery or travelled. The only thing they can link it to is the cancer drugs I finished taking last July.

Since then I have been twice to the clinic for blood testing. I am on Warfarin plus my 3rd week of injecting myself with Clexane. The places to inject without bruises are becoming scarce.

I know the clinic is busy but no-one has the time to talk to you. It's as though they are not at all intereste... read more

Hi Everyone,
We took a long car trip two weeks ago and I took all the necessary precautions. Three days ago I realized that there was numbness in the toes on my right foot. My DVT (2002) was in my right leg. Should I be concerned.
Thanks,
Linda
